Dear Reader,

Issue Two is here!

We hope you find in these pages a bit of what Chaucer called sentence and solace–meaning and entertainment.  Please enjoy stories about a couple that seeks comfort in observing the lives of extraordinarily fat people, a man who makes a ritual of dumping his soda onto unsuspecting shoppers at the mall, a husband’s obsession with a medieval shield, and two brothers whose father has been reported missing in Iraq.  You’ll also find stories about the nature of kisses and names and memories, a narrator who feels her husband doesn’t love her anymore, an elephant named Hemingway, and wedding vows that include a promise to take it in stride when the kids “use the leaf blower in the living room or wipe feces on the dog.” Finally, you’ll find characters who live on ceilings and a mother who declares, “I’ve packed everything up and we need to go now.” We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we do.

Sincerely,

Blythe Winslow & Molly Gaudry, Co-Founding Editors
